N+1 is a health coaching practice designed to bridge the gap between recommendations and real-life. Lasting health improvements come from making positive, evidence-supported changes in ways that work for you, with the support needed to make it possible.

I am a Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach. I also hold a PhD with expertise in weight management, exercise, and health behavior change.
Meet Caitlin
After nearly two decades as a clinical and public health researcher, I started N+1 to support people in making evidence-based lifestyle changes that are tailored to their individual circumstances, needs and values so that they can experience real and sustainable improvements in their health and well-being.
I am a National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) trained at Vanderbilt Medical Center. I hold a PhD and MSc in physical activity and obesity epidemiology (Queen's University, Kingston, ON) and a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology (University of British Columbia).
Because of my background and training, I predominantly support clients with goals related to weight management, exercise, chronic disease self-management, and those navigating a journey with cancer. However, my approach is rooted in whole-person well-being and I'm equally enthusiastic about working with you to achieve a broad range of health goals.
My coaching style is energetic, non-judgmental, and highly practical. I draw on the breadth of my experience, grounded in the latest health science and behavior change research, to help clients navigate their personal health journey at all stages of life.

Regardless of whether you have a specific goal in mind or simply know something needs to change, the coaching process is evidence-based and designed to create a highly personalized path forward based on your life circumstances, strengths and values.
Health coaching is NOT about me telling you what to do. Rather, I am a partner who provides structure, expertise in the process of change, resources when needed, and compassionate accountability so you can use what you know about yourself to tackle changes that feel overwhelming or out of reach.
Health coaching can help prevent or manage chronic disease, help you perform at your best, and support you in living with more energy and purpose.

All coaching sessions are conducted virtually on a HIPAA compliant web-based platform. If you are local to Seattle, in-person sessions can be arranged.
Consultation
Finding the right coach for you is an important first step. If you are unfamiliar with health coaching, unsure if it makes sense for you, or want to learn more about working with me, schedule a free, 15-minute discovery call. It will be a relaxed conversation and a chance to ask questions. No pressure or obligation.
Initial Session 75-90 mins
$150
The first coaching session is designed to create a strong foundation. We'll establish what is (or isn't) working for your health currently and develop your vision for where you want to go. We'll work together to get specific about your goals, then begin to map out personalized next steps that set you up for success.
Follow-Up Sessions 45 mins
$95
Subsequent coaching sessions are focused check-ins designed to keep you motivated, accountable, and moving forward. We'll work together to shift mindsets, develop skills and strategies, and create routines that support you in your real life. We'll focus on what's going well and troubleshoot roadblocks to keep you consistently moving toward your goals without feeling overwhelmed.
The duration and frequency of health coaching that feels right for you will depend on your goals and circumstances. For longer-term coaching support, I offer several package options. We'll work together to establish a plan that makes sense for you.
If finances are a barrier, please reach out below. I offer a limited number of sliding scale sessions and am happy to discuss how we can make coaching feel possible for you.

Common questions
Health Coaching
I accept online payments prior to the time of service. Currently, I cannot accept insurance. Health coaching services may be reimbursable via Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) if recommended by a physician. I offer a limited number of sliding scale sessions; please inquire as to the availability of these sessions.
I work primarily with adults at this time. If you are interested in family coaching or the coaching of a minor over the age of 13, please reach out so we can discuss specifics.
During a typical session I meet with clients for 45 minutes wherein we explore and address the goals and issues that you have prioritized for coaching. During the coaching relationship, you can expect me to provide compassionate, thoughtful and research-based support for behavior change. In each session, you will set specific goals and together we will identify the resources, support and accountability necessary for you to be successful. If you have additional questions about the coaching process, please consider booking a free 15-minute discovery call. You should enter the coaching relationship with all of your questions answered.
Your privacy is a top priority, and all information shared during our sessions or as part of the coaching relationship will remain strictly confidential unless disclosure is required by law.
Yes. At your request and with a written release of information agreement, I can correspond with other members of your healthcare team if you feel this would be beneficial to your care.
I ask that clients provide 48 hours notice if an appointment needs to be cancelled or rescheduled. I also understand that unforeseen life circumstances arise and can sometimes offer an alternate appointment time to avoid a missed appointment fee.
I never sell products or earn commission from any product or service you choose to try as a result of health coaching. If specifically requested, I can help you find or select a product or service that is aligned with your goal(s).
